So you want to know more about Awesome Kong? Well here is your chance. Below is a question and answer sheet of some of the most popular questions I get. I threw a few little factoids in as well. Who is your favorite opponent?
Ayako Hamada is one of my favorite opponents. We’ve had some knockdown drag-out matches in Japan. She’s a second generation wrestler with great strength and ability. I call her the international phenomenon because she reminds me of AJ styles. Good thing TNA just signed her, eh?
What is your most memorable wrestling moment?
I have many that I hold dear to my heart. Winning the WWWA, NWA and AWA singles titles are very cherished moments of mine. However, there is one moment that I will never forget. I was in a four way tag elimination match with Team 3D. They were the last to make their entrance, of course, and I can vividly remember standing in the middle of the ring and thinking “Damn, I have the BEST seat in the house” It was strange how bad I wanted to cheer for my childhood hero when they were coming to beat my ass. My team (Aja kong) and Team 3D were the last two teams left. I wish I could tell you that we won but Aja went through the table and I took the 3D. Aja and I were able to get them down for two count cover. How many girls can say THAT?
Who are your heroes?
My heroes are people that stand up to injustice no matter the inconvenience
Where did you come up with the name Amazing Kong?
I didn’t come up with the name Amazing Kong myself. It was given to me by Masatsugu Matsunaga of All Japan Women’s Wrestling. They had a falling out with Aja Kong but had her name on the card for one of their biggest shows of the year. They came to LA looking for new talent and found me and decided to name me ‘Amazing’ Kong that way they could put that ‘A. Kong’ would be appearing at the show. No one would or did expect a new Kong to pop out of the curtain.
What is your favorite food?
Soul food
Where did you train?
For the first two months of my wrestling career, I trained at Jesse Hernandez’ School of Hardknocks’ in San Bernadino CA.. All Japan Women’s trainer Bob Yozawa oversaw the remainder of my training in Japan.
Did you always want to be a Professional Wrestler?
I actually wanted to be an accountant when I was younger. At age 15, wrestling did come across my mind but I was discouraged to pursue it by my parents.
Who is your favorite wrestler?
Toss up between Mick Foley, Stone Cold and the Rock
What kind of music do you listen to? Specific artists?
I listen to every kind of music you can throw at me depending on my mood. If I’m sad, I’ll take the Billy Holiday cure. If I’m angry, the Alanis Morissette revenge. The 80’s make me nostalgic. Country makes me drunk. If I feel rebellious, I listen to rap. But really I listen to everything. I love big band music and everything Benny Goodman wrote. I’ll even get down with the death metal every now and again then I save myself with some Gospel.
What is your workout routine?
Cardio and weights three times a week
Do you have any animals?
I don’t have any animals but I wish I did.
Do you get to keep the Women’s Title with you when you travel and go home?
Of course! It’s a pain to take through airports though
What is the biggest difference between men and women’s wrestling?
‘Boys have penises and girls have vaginas’

If you weren’t a wrestler what would you be doing?
I’d be a social worker
What is your advice to someone looking to get into the wrestling business?
Find a good school to train at then be prepared and willing to sacrifice EVERYTHING for at least five years by putting wrestling first.
What are your favorite sports besides wrestling, do you have any favorite teams?
I love Hockey because they are allowed to fight!
If you could wrestle anyone past or present who would it be and why?
The Iron Sheik because without him I probably wouldn’t have started watching wrestling. When my little brother and I were younger he used to put me in the Camel Clutch every Saturday morning because he idolized the Iron Sheik. I would be there for the duration of the show with his nasty fingers fish hooking my mouth so I couldn’t yell for help and his skidmarked uderoos on my back. It was very traumatic for me. When I had had enough, I would start watching the show upstairs alone. I learned a few moves and prepared myself. The next time my little brother tried to get me in the Camel Clutch I countered into the Boston Crab and had him screaming for mercy. From then on, He and I watched wrestling together with respected space.
Favorite drink?
Long Island Iced Tea
